AW60HS Series — NEMA 24 Stepper Motor with Precision Planetary Gearbox & Brake

The AW60HS series pairs Apexwell's NEMA 24 (60mm), 1.8° hybrid stepper motor with an HPS60 precision planetary gearbox and an integrated holding brake in one assembly, combining ≤15 arcmin backlash with a locked shaft when power is removed. Motor holding torque scales from 1.25 N·m to 2.8 N·m across four body lengths, gearbox output torque reaches up to 32 N·m, and each model is available in either 4-wire (bipolar) or 6-wire (center-tap) configuration. The gearbox and brake are shared with the AW57HS precision gearbox & brake series.

The brake holds the motor shaft when de-energized and releases when 24VDC is applied, independent of the motor phase windings and the gearbox — identical brake specifications to the AW57HS.

Wiring

Each AW60HS motor is available in either 4-wire (bipolar) or 6-wire (center-tap) configuration, so it can drop into either a bipolar or unipolar driver setup without a different motor SKU. The brake coil is wired and powered separately.

Typical Applications

With ≤15 arcmin backlash, gearbox torque up to 32 N·m, and a holding brake that locks the shaft on power loss, the AW60HS series fits vertical (Z-axis) industrial drives, robotic base joints that must hold position accurately without drifting, precision CNC and index tables, and other applications where the AW57HS's torque range fits but the driving application calls for a higher-current motor stack.
