AW42HS Series — NEMA 17 Stepper Motor with Integrated Driver

The AW42HS series is Apexwell's NEMA 17 (42mm) open-loop stepper motor line with the driver built into the motor housing — no external driver required. Across four body lengths from 34mm to 60mm, holding torque scales from 0.24 N·m to 0.75 N·m, giving designers a simple, plug-and-play pulse/direction positioning solution without the cost or complexity of closed-loop encoder feedback.

Control & Wiring

The AW42HS uses a screw-terminal power/control block (DC+, GND, PU+/-, DR+/-, EN+/-, AM+/-) — a standard pulse/direction/enable interface compatible with most stepper motion controllers, plus an alarm output for fault monitoring. Unlike Apexwell's closed-loop integrated stepper line, there is no CAN or RS485 bus option and no encoder feedback; control is pulse/direction only.

Typical Applications

With the driver built in and a standard pulse/direction interface, the AW42HS series fits 3D printer axes, basic CNC and desktop automation, packaging equipment, and general positioning tasks where open-loop control is sufficient and the simplicity and lower cost of an integrated open-loop driver outweigh the benefits of closed-loop feedback.

Why Choose the AW42HS Series

Folding the driver into the motor housing cuts cabinet space and wiring compared with a motor-plus-external-driver setup, and the standard pulse/direction/enable interface drops into most existing motion controllers without new firmware or tuning. For applications that don't need position verification against commanded pulses, this open-loop integrated design offers a simpler and lower-cost alternative to Apexwell's closed-loop integrated stepper line on the same NEMA 17 frame. Custom shaft length and connector configurations are available on request.

We can customize the electrical parameters of the motor and geometric dimensions such as the motor output shaft size according to customer requirements. Accessories including pulleys, eccentric gearboxes, planetary gearboxes and encoders can also be added.
