AW70BLF Series — 70mm BLDC Motor with Brake

The AW70BLF series is Apexwell's 70mm-diameter, 48V brushless DC motor line fitted with an integrated holding brake, so the shaft stays locked in position when motor power is removed. Rated output power scales from 166W to 471W across three body lengths, with a standard brake rated at 2.0 N·m of static friction torque — the same brake unit used on the AW60BLF series — available in permanent-magnet or spring-applied, power-off or power-on configurations on request.

The brake holds the motor shaft when de-energized and releases when 24VDC is applied, independent of the motor phase windings. Permanent-magnet brake, spring brake, power-off brake, and power-on brake variants are available as customizations.

Wiring

Each AW70BLF motor exits with a 3-core sheathed power cable for the U/V/W windings and a separate 5-core shielded Hall sensor cable (+5VDC, GND, HU, HV, HW) at a 120° Hall electrical angle for standard 6-step commutation. The brake coil is wired and powered separately.

Typical Applications

With an integrated holding brake on a 70mm frame, the AW70BLF series fits heavier vertical-axis industrial drives, robotics joints that must hold position when power is removed, lift and hoist mechanisms, and other applications where the AW60BLF's power range isn't enough.

Why Choose the AW70BLF Brake Motor

A holding brake keeps the shaft locked whenever the motor is de-energized — whether from a planned power-down or an unplanned fault — which a BLDC motor's own detent torque cannot guarantee once current is removed. Three body lengths let a product line scale output power nearly 3x (166–471W) while brake spec stays unchanged, and because the brake unit is shared with the AW60BLF, a design can move between the two frames without changing brake specifications. Both power-off (fail-safe) and power-on brake logic are available, letting the same motor frame suit different safety requirements. Custom brake torque and connector configurations are available on request.

We can customize the electrical parameters of the motor and geometric dimensions such as the motor output shaft size according to customer requirements. Accessories including pulleys, eccentric gearboxes, planetary gearboxes and encoders can also be added.
