AW57BLY Series — 57mm BLDC Motor with Brake
The AW57BLY series is Apexwell's 57mm-diameter, 4-pole brushless DC motor line fitted with an integrated holding brake, so the shaft stays locked in position when motor power is removed. Rated output power scales from 17W to 140W across five body lengths — the lower-power tier of Apexwell's 57mm brake-motor platform, sized for lighter loads than the 8-pole AW57BLF.

The brake holds the motor shaft when de-energized and releases when 24VDC is applied, independent of the motor phase windings. Permanent-magnet brake, spring brake, power-off brake, and power-on brake variants are available as customizations.
Wiring
Each AW57BLY motor exits with a 3-wire star-connected power cable for the U/V/W windings and a separate Hall sensor cable (+5VDC, GND, HU, HV, HW) at a 120° Hall electrical angle for standard 6-step commutation. The brake coil is wired and powered separately.
Typical Applications
With an integrated holding brake on a 57mm frame, the AW57BLY series fits light vertical-axis drives, small robotics joints that must hold position when power is removed, compact lift mechanisms, and other applications where the AW57BLF's power range is more than the application needs.
Why Choose the AW57BLY Brake Motor
A holding brake keeps the shaft locked whenever the motor is de-energized — whether from a planned power-down or an unplanned fault — which a BLDC motor's own detent torque cannot guarantee once current is removed. Five body lengths let a product line scale output power roughly 8x (17–140W) while brake spec and mounting footprint stay unchanged. Both power-off (fail-safe) and power-on brake logic are available, letting the same motor frame suit different safety requirements. For applications needing more power at a similar body length, see the AW57BLF brake series, an 8-pole motor on the same 57mm frame. Custom brake torque and connector configurations are available on request.
We can customize the electrical parameters of the motor and geometric dimensions such as the motor output shaft size according to customer requirements. Accessories including pulleys, eccentric gearboxes, planetary gearboxes and encoders can also be added.
