AW42BLF Series — 42mm BLDC Motor with Brake

The AW42BLF series is Apexwell's 42mm-diameter, 24V brushless DC motor line fitted with an integrated holding brake, so the shaft stays locked in position when motor power is removed. Rated output power scales from 26W to 104W across four body lengths, and the standard brake — 0.7 N·m of static friction torque — is available in permanent-magnet or spring-applied, power-off or power-on configurations on request.

The brake holds the motor shaft when de-energized and releases when 24VDC is applied, independent of the motor phase windings. Permanent-magnet brake, spring brake, power-off brake, and power-on brake variants are available as customizations.

Wiring

Each AW42BLF motor exits with a 3-wire star-connected power cable for the U/V/W windings and a separate Hall sensor cable (+5VDC, GND, HU, HV, HW) at a 120° Hall electrical angle for standard 6-step commutation. The brake coil is wired and powered separately.

Typical Applications

With an integrated holding brake on a 42mm frame, the AW42BLF series fits small vertical-axis drives, light robotics joints that must hold position when power is removed, compact lift mechanisms, and other applications where an unpowered axis must not drift or fall under load.

Why Choose the AW42BLF Brake Motor

A holding brake keeps the shaft locked whenever the motor is de-energized — whether from a planned power-down or an unplanned fault — which a BLDC motor's own detent torque cannot guarantee once current is removed. Four body lengths let a product line scale output power roughly 4x (26–104W) while holding torque, brake spec, and mounting footprint stay unchanged. Both power-off (fail-safe) and power-on brake logic are available, letting the same motor frame suit different safety requirements. Custom brake torque and connector configurations are available on request.

We can customize the electrical parameters of the motor and geometric dimensions such as the motor output shaft size according to customer requirements. Accessories including pulleys, eccentric gearboxes, planetary gearboxes and encoders can also be added.
